Sewing is the heart of garment manufacturing — the stage where individual cut panels are transformed into a finished product that must withstand the demands of daily wear, repeated washing, and the expectations of discerning customers. At TTgarment, our sewing floor operates under a structured quality management system that combines skilled operators, calibrated machinery, and continuous inline inspection to produce garments with exceptional structural integrity.

Operator Training and Specialization

Each sewing operator at TTgarment is trained and certified on specific machine types and seam constructions. Rather than rotating operators between tasks, we assign individuals to their area of expertise — whether that is setting sleeves, attaching waistbands, or operating flatlock machines for activewear. This specialization builds muscle memory and consistency, reducing operator-induced defects and increasing throughput without compromising quality.

Machine Calibration and Maintenance

All sewing machines — including single-needle lockstitch, overlock, flatlock, chainstitch, and bartacking machines — are calibrated at the start of each production day. Stitch density (stitches per inch), thread tension, needle size, and presser foot pressure are set according to the fabric type and seam specification in the approved tech pack. Preventive maintenance schedules ensure that needle changes, timing adjustments, and lubrication are performed before mechanical issues can affect production quality.

Inline Quality Control

Our inline quality control system places roving inspectors on the sewing floor who audit completed operations at regular intervals. Each operator output is checked for stitch consistency, seam allowance accuracy, thread trimming, and correct assembly sequence. Defects identified inline are corrected immediately at the source, preventing defective panels from advancing to subsequent operations where rework becomes exponentially more difficult and costly.

Critical Seam Strength Testing

For performance and activewear garments, seam strength is tested using a seam slippage test and a seam strength test per ASTM or ISO standards. Stress points such as crotch seams, armhole seams, and pocket attachments receive additional reinforcement through bartacking or double-needle stitching. These structural details are specified in the tech pack and verified during the pre-production sample approval process before bulk sewing begins.
